A versatile scanner

Scanners traditionally connect to computers, but now a portable scanner can connect right to an Apple iPad, iPhone or iPod Touch.

Apparent’s Doxie Go ($200) is a 10-1/2-inch rechargeable scanner through which you can feed photos or documents that load directly onto your computer or hand-held Apple device. Apparent says scanning takes 8 seconds per page or 5 seconds per photo, and the device can store up to 600 pages or 2,400 photos in its 512MB of memory. The company says the Doxie Go can scan up to 100 items per charge and requires about 2 hours for a full recharge.
