Apps for the fridge
Touchscreens and retrievable nutrition information aren’t new concepts for refrigerators, but Samsung is pushing kitchen accessibility a bit further with its new Internet-friendly RF4289 ($3,500, French-door) and RSG309 ($2,700, side-by-side) models, which include smartphone applications.
The refrigerators have an 8-inch Wi-Fi-enabled LCD touchscreen that includes apps for Associated Press news, Epicurious (for recipes), Google Calendar, Pandora radio and WeatherBug. The refrigerators are expected to be available in stores this fall.
