If you or someone you know has diabetes, you might be interested to know that Telcare’s new blood-glucose meter ($150) is the first wireless model of its kind.

Although multiple mobile applications allow consumers to input their blood-glucose readings for self-reference or for a doctor, the Telcare meter can read the strip with which the patient lances his/her finger and upload that data directly from the device to cloud storage, where it can be monitored by doctors. It also stores data for multiple months, which allows doctors to analyze possible patterns in the patient.

Consumers who use the device must set up an account at, which then will interact with the Telcare meter to let consumers know whether they’re within their target range.
