Investors who look at media giants Comcast (Nasdaq: CMCSA; Price: $61.76) and Walt Disney (NYSE: DIS; Price: $99.78) should remember that amusement parks play an important part in their financial outlook, three analysts tell us.
Comcast owns Universal Studios Theme Parks and is expected to open an amusement park in 2019 in Beijing. As of press time, Walt Disney was expected to open its latest amusement park in June 2016 in Shanghai. Analysts see China as a potentially huge untapped market for amusement parks.
Dave Heger of Edward Jones notes that because amusement parks aren’t the only business for the two companies, the stocks aren’t as risky as are those of pure amusement-park companies.
