Consumers will be able to get their first look at a Jetta hybrid from Volkswagen in January at the 2012 North American International Auto Show in Detroit.

VW will have the hybrid option as part of its 2013 model-year lineup, but it’s expected to make the car available at dealerships this year.

Although VW hasn’t discussed a price for the Jetta hybrid, the company says the hybrid will have a 1.4-liter turbocharged engine and an electric motor. The vehicle is expected to average 44 mpg combined for highway and city.
