Alpine joins Pioneer with aftermarket CarPlay receiver

Alpine Electronics is ready to play.

The automotive electronics manufacturer released its first aftermarket multipurpose receiver system that’s compatible with Apple’s CarPlay, which allows drivers to operate an Apple iPhone by using voice commands.

Alpine’s iLX-007 has a 7-inch touch screen, costs $800 and is available at retailers now.

Pioneer Electronics also has six aftermarket multipurpose receivers that are compatible with CarPlay that range from $600 to $1,400. Pioneer’s selections came to market Oct. 1, 2014.
