FDA approves first mid-sleep-cycle insomnia medication
Adults who have insomnia now can find relief if they wake up in the middle of the night. Food and Drug Administration approved Intermezzo, the first mid-sleep-cycle insomnia medication.
Intermezzo can be used by individuals who wake in the middle of a sleep cycle and have difficulty falling asleep again.
Intermezzo has a lower level of zolpidem tartrate, a main ingredient that’s used in other insomnia medications. The lower ingredient level means that individuals can take Intermezzo as long as they plan to sleep for at least another 4 hours.
