Homeowners can get independent foreclosure review

Email to a Friend

An independent foreclosure review now is available to homeowners whose primary residence was in foreclosure between Jan. 1, 2009, and Dec. 31, 2010.

In the independent foreclosure review, which was established by Office of the Comptroller of the Currency, a third-party consultant reviews a foreclosure file to determine if the homeowner was affected financially by errors in the foreclosure process. If discrepancies are found, the individual might receive compensation.

The foreclosure-review process is available to individuals who have mortgages that are serviced by the following lenders: America’s Servicing Company, Aurora Loan Services, Bank of America, Beneficial, Chase, Citibank, CitiFinancial, CitiMortgage, Countrywide, EMC, Everbank/Everhome, First Horizon, GMAC Mortgage, HFC, HSBC, IndyMac Mortgage Services, MetLife Bank, National City, PNC, Sovereign Bank, SunTrust Mortgage, U.S. Bank, Wachovia, Washington Mutual and Wells Fargo.

Homeowners’ requests for a review must be received by April 30, 2012.
