The manufacturer of a thermostat and combination smoke/carbon-monoxide alarm that Google will purchase says its smartphone-controlled devices still will work with Apple iPads and iPhones.
Google will become the parent company of Nest Labs, which makes the Nest Learning Thermostat and the Nest Protect: Smoke + Carbon Monoxide alarm.
The search-engine company will pay $3.2 million for Nest Labs, but it’s unclear when the deal will be final.
Although Google’s Android mobile operating system controls the majority of smartphones and many tablet computers that are on the market, Nest Labs says its products will remain compatible with Apple’s iOS mobile devices, too.
