NTSB recommends ban on cellphone use for drivers

National Transportation Safety Board unanimously recommended that all states ban the use of cellphones for drivers.

NTSB reached its decision after the group discussed a highway accident report that involved a collision between a pickup, two school buses and a tractor that occurred in Missouri in August 2010. The collision, which resulted in two deaths, likely was caused by a driver who was texting at the wheel, according to NTSB’s findings.

NTSB’s recommendations don’t affect drivers who use Bluetooth-enabled or hands-free communication devices.
