Nov. 10, 2011—Toyota and Intel agreed to begin research on the next generation of vehicle multimedia information systems.

The companies plan to focus on developing multimedia systems that are easy to use and that don’t impede driving, in particular connective technologies that allow drivers to control home appliances or utilities from a vehicle.

Intel says the multimedia systems will use their Atom processors.

Toyota and Intel didn’t mention when the systems would be available.
