Toys R Us introduces tablet for kids
Tabeo
Toys R Us introduced a tablet computer that’s geared toward children and that uses Google’s Android operating system.
The Tabeo ($150) is preloaded with 10 educational mobile applications, including Discovery Kids Putterbugs and Operation Math, and 20 games, including Angry Birds and Fruit Ninja. Users can download additional free apps to the Wi-Fi-enabled device from Tabeo’s app store.
Parents can block access to websites and set customized controls for multiple users. Parents also can get an email alert from the device when a child comes across a new website so the parents can determine whether the website is acceptable for the child to view.
The Tabeo has a 7-inch touch screen, 4GB of flash memory (a micro SDHC slot allows for expansion up to 32GB) and a 1-gigahertz ARM Cortex A8 processor.
The Tabeo will be available at Toy R Us stores starting Oct. 21, 2012, and is available for preorder today.
