Volkswagen of America ordered its U.S. dealerships to stop selling four 2014 models because of the potential risk of transmission-oil cooler leaks.

VW sent a letter April 8, 2014, to dealerships that instructs dealers to cease immediately the sale of four models that have a 1.8-liter engine and an automatic transmission and that were produced on or after Feb. 1, 2014. Those models are: Beetle, Beetle Convertible, Jetta and Passat. The letter was published by Automotive News.

VW spokesperson Scott Vazin estimates that the stop-sale order affects about 25,000 vehicles, according to the Automotive News report.

VW didn’t issue a safety recall, but Automotive News reports that the automaker discussed with National Highway Traffic Safety Administration how to handle affected cars that already were sold.
