July 24, 2017—Southeast Toyota Distributors, which is a dealership group, recalled 2011–2016 Toyota Tacoma and 4Runner vehicles that have an accessory hood scoop that was installed by Southeast Toyota Distributors or Southeast Toyota Distributors dealers. (Southeast Toyota Distributors serves Alabama, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina and South Carolina.)
The adhesive that attaches the hood scoop to the vehicle might weaken; this would allow the hood scoop to detach, which would present a road hazard and increases the risk of a crash.
Southeast Toyota Distributors will notify owners, and dealers will mechanically fasten the scoop to the hood for free. The recall is expected to begin Aug. 28, 2017.
