Arctic Cat recalls 2012 snowmobiles citing loose tie-rods
Jan. 31, 2012—Arctic Cat recalled certain snowmobile models because the lower steering tie-rod attachment can loosen and cause a loss of steering control, posing a crash hazard.
The recall affects the following 2012 F, M and XF models: F800 LXR, F800 Sno Pro, F1100 LXR, F1100 Sno Pro/Limited/50th; F1100 Turbos; M800, M800 HCR, M800 Sno Pro, M1100, M1100 HCR, M1100 Sno Pro/Limited/50th; M1100 Turbos; XF800 LXR; XF800 Sno Pro High Country; XF1100 Limited/50th; XF1100 LXR; and XF1100 Turbos.
The model name is found on each side of the hood. The snowmobiles were sold in a variety of these color combinations: black, orange and white; black and orange; black and green; and white and green.
The products were sold at Arctic Cat dealerships nationwide from May 2011 through December 2011 for $10,500–$14,500.
Arctic Cat received four reports of incidents, including one that cited a complete loss of steering control. No injuries were reported.
Consumers should stop using these snowmobiles immediately and contact a local Arctic Cat snowmobile dealer to schedule a free inspection and repair. Arctic Cat notified owners of these snowmobiles directly by mail.
