Bluestem recalls ride-on toy car because battery might overheat
Sept. 12, 2012—Bluestem Brands recalled Range Rider ride-on toy cars, because the product’s battery can overheat, smoke, melt and catch on fire, which poses fire and burn hazards to consumers.
This recalled product was sold in pink or tan. The pink ride-on toy car has model number 90407G and product code NU640. The tan ride-on toy car has model number 90407B and product code NI374. The product’s model number is printed on the back of the seat of the ride-on toy car and the product code can be found on the packaging.
The recalled product was sold through Fingerhut catalogs and online at fingerhut.com and gettington.com from September 2010 through May 2012. Bluestem received nine reports of incidents in which batteries smoked or caught on fire and melted the battery’s connections or scorched the plastic in the ride-on car. No injuries were reported. Consumers should stop using the recalled ride-on toy car, remove the battery and contact Bluestem for a full refund of the purchase price plus reimbursement for shipping and handling.
