BMW recalls 7 Series models because doors might not close
Oct. 26, 2012—BMW recalled certain 2005–2007 7 Series vehicles that were manufactured from Aug. 23, 2004, through Sept. 3, 2007. Due to a software problem, the doors may appear to be closed and latched but still might be open. The door might unexpectedly open because of road or driving conditions or occupant contact with the door. The sudden opening could result in occupant ejection and increase the risk of injury in the event of a crash.
The affected models are 745i (2005), 745Li (2005), 750i (2006–2007), 750Li (2006–2007), 760i (2005–2006) and 760Li (2005–2007).
BMW will notify owners, and dealers will update the software. The recall is expected to begin during November 2012.
