Breeder’s Choice recalls dog food due to salmonella risk
Sept. 12, 2012—Breeder’s Choice Pet Food recalled one formula of adult dog food, because it might be contaminated with salmonella. Consumers who handle dry pet food can become infected with salmonella, especially if they don’t wash their hands thoroughly after they touch surfaces that are exposed to this product. Pets that have salmonella infections might develop a fever or abdominal pain or lose their appetite.
The recalled product is AvoDerm Natural Lamb Meal & Brown Rice adult dog formula (26 pounds). The recalled product has SKU 1000065074, UPC 052907020438 and an expiration date from Aug. 28, 2013, through Aug. 30, 2013.
The recalled product was distributed to retailers in California, Georgia, Illinois, Nevada, Virginia and Washington. No illnesses were reported.
