May 19, 2017—Pier 1 Imports recalled Chalk Note Mugs, because the mugs might crack when they’re filled with hot liquid, which poses a burn hazard.

The recalled mugs are black and can be written on with chalk. “Pier 1 Imports” and “Stoneware” are printed on the bottom of the mug.

The recalled mugs were sold from March 2016 through April 2017 at Pier 1 Imports stores nationwide and online at pier1.com.

The company received reports of eight mugs that cracked when they were filled with hot liquid. No injuries were reported as of press time.

Consumers immediately should stop using the recalled mugs and may call Pier 1 Imports for a full refund or a merchandise credit.

For more information, consumers may call Pier 1 Imports at 855/513-5140 Monday–Friday, 8 a.m.–7 p.m. CT, Saturday, 9 a.m.–5 p.m. CT, or Sunday, 10 a.m.–6 p.m. CT, or go to pier1.com.
