Burn hazards from Celebrate It ceramic travel mugs

May 19, 2017—Michaels Stores Procurement recalled private-brand Celebrate It ceramic travel mugs, because the mug’s silicone lid doesn’t fit securely and might allow hot liquid to leak from the bottom of the lid when the mug is tilted, which poses a burn hazard. Also, the mug doesn’t have a silicone hand wrap, so consumers might burn their hand while holding the mug when it contains hot liquid.

The recalled mugs hold about 16 ounces of liquid and have the one of following four designs:

* “Motherhood the greatest adventure” (lime green lid),

* “MOM” (lime green lid),

* Blue floral (turquoise), and

* Pink floral (pink lid).

The recalled mugs have the SKU number 508992 and the UPC 886946619458, which are on a label that’s on the bottom of the mug.

The recalled mugs were sold from March 2017 through April 2017 at Michaels stores nationwide.

The company received one report of a lid leaking. No injuries were reported as of press time.

Consumers immediately should stop using the recalled mugs and may return them to a Michaels store for a full refund.
