May 18, 2017—Douglas recalled three models of plush toys, because the plastic eyes that are on the toys might detach, which poses a choking hazard.
The recall involves Charlotte the Fox, Chewie the English Bulldog and Oliver the Bear plush toys. The Charlotte the Fox toy is brown and white and has a blue, removable cape. The Chewie the English Bulldog toy is brown and white and has a blue patch that’s sewn onto the chest that says “Chewie.” The Oliver the Bear toy is brown and tan, and it has a red, removable cape and a blue T-shirt that says “Oliver the Bear.” Each of the toys has a sewn-in label that says “DOUGLAS the cuddle toy.”
The recalled plush toys were sold from July 2014 through April 2017 at specialty gift and toy stores nationwide. They also were distributed by UnitedHealthcare Children’s Foundation to various individuals and organizations.
Douglas received two reports of the plastic eyes detaching or loosening. No injuries were reported as of press time.
Consumers immediately should take the recalled plush toys away from young children and may call Douglas to receive a free replacement or a full refund.
For more information, consumers may call Douglas at 800/276-4029 Monday–Friday, 9 a.m.–7 p.m. ET, or go to douglastoys.com.
