ElliptiGO recalls excercise cycle because drive arm might crack
Oct. 12, 2012—ElliptiGO recalled its ElliptiGO 11R outdoor elliptical cycle because the drive arm can crack or break during use. This can pose a fall hazard to the user.
The ElliptiGO 11R is an outdoor elliptical exercise cycle that combines an elliptical trainer with a bicycle. It’s manufactured for use by adults for exercise. The ElliptiGO 11R has an aluminum frame, a carbon-fiber drive arm, two 20-inch spoked wheels, an 11-speed internally geared hub, front and rear brakes, and an adjustable-height steering column. The cycles are matte black and have white markings. “ElliptiGO” is printed on the frame.
Only ElliptiGO 11R cycles that have serial numbers that range from 12-003-069 through 12-020-035 are included in the recall. The serial number is located underneath the product to the rear of where the kickstand is attached to the frame.
ElliptiGO received three reports of the drive arm cracking, but it didn’t receive any reports about injuries.
The product was sold at various specialty bicycle and specialty fitness retail stores nationwide and at elliptigo.com from April 2012 through July 2012.
Consumers should stop using the ElliptiGO 11R cycle immediately and call ElliptiGO to receive free replacement drive arms that an authorized dealer should install. For more information, call ElliptiGO at 888/551-0117 Monday–Friday, noon to 8 p.m. ET, or go to elliptigo.com/recall.html.
