Forever Cheese expands recall of ricotta cheese due to Listeria risk

Sept. 27, 2012—Forever Cheese expanded its recall of Frescolina brand ricotta salata soft cheese, because the cheese might be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes. Listeria is an organism that can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in individuals who have weakened immune systems.

All lots and production codes are included in this recall.

The recalled product was distributed to retailers and restaurants in District of Columbia and the following states: Alabama, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Montana, Nebraska, New Jersey, New Mexico, Nevada, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Texas, Utah and Washington. Forever Cheese received reports of 15 illnesses in 12 states. Consumers should return the recalled product to the place of purchase for a full refund.
