Forever Cheese recalls ricotta cheese due to Listeria risk

Sept. 11, 2012—Forever Cheese recalled Frescolina brand ricotta salata soft cheese, because it might be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes. Listeria is an organism that can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in individuals who have weakened immune systems.

The recalled product has the production date code 441202 printed on its packaging.

The recalled product was distributed to retailers and restaurants in District of Columbia and the following states: California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Montana, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Virginia and Washington. Forever Cheese received 14 reports of illnesses that might be linked to this recall. Consumers should return the recalled product to the place of purchase for a full refund.
