Fresh Express recalls bagged salad due to Listeria risk

Aug. 27, 2012—Fresh Express recalled Hearts of Romaine bagged salads, because the product might be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes. Listeria can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in individuals who have weakened immune systems.

The recalled product was packaged in a 10-ounce bag that has a product code that begins with G222, UPC 7127926102 and a “use by” date of Aug. 23, 2012.

The recalled product was distributed in the following states: Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Mississippi, Missouri, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia and West Virginia. No illnesses were reported. Consumers shouldn’t consume the product and should discard it.
