Fruit Whirls cereal recalled because of unlisted almond

Oct. 22, 2012—Gilster-Mary Lee recalled Better Valu’s Fruit Whirls ready-to-eat cereal, because the product might contain almond butter, which isn’t listed on the ingredient label. Consumers who are allergic to almonds might have a serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume this product.

The recalled product was packaged in a 28-ounce plastic bag that has UPC 7980124630 and a “best by” date of July 17, 2013.

The recalled product was distributed to retail stores in Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia and West Virginia. No illnesses were reported. Consumers should return the product to the store for a full refund or discard it.
