Health risk stirs Gretchen’s Shoebox Express to recall Starbucks boxed lunches
Oct. 4, 2012—Gretchen’s Shoebox Express recalled certain Starbucks Bistro Boxes, because the individual peanut-butter packet that’s included in the boxed lunches might be contaminated with salmonella.
The recalled boxed lunches were packaged in a 6.8-ounce box that has UPC 762111881502 and an “enjoy by” date of Sept. 2, 2012, through Sept. 27, 2012. The 0.05-ounce Justin’s brand honey peanut-butter packet that’s included in the box has UPC 894455000391 and a 2013 best-by date of July 14, Aug. 10, Aug. 13, Aug. 14 or Aug. 15.
The recalled product was sold at Starbucks retail stores in Oregon and Washington. Consumers shouldn’t consume the affected peanut butter and should discard the packet. Salmonella is an organism that can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and individuals who have weakened immune systems.
For more information, call Gretchen’s Shoebox at 206/623-8194 Monday–Friday 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. PT.
