Hyundai recalls Santa Fe because airbag might not deploy
July 30, 2012—Hyundai Motor recalled 2007–2009 Santa Fe crossover SUVs that were manufactured from April 19, 2006, through July 7, 2008. The occupant classification system might require recalibration to detect small adults accurately.
Improper classification or detection might prevent the front passenger air bag from deployment in the event of a crash, which would increase the risk of injury to the front passenger.
Hyundai will notify owners, and dealers will update the classification software free.
Owners may contact Hyundai at 800/633-5151. Owners also may contact National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s Vehicle Safety Hotline at 888/327-4236 or go to safercar.gov.
