July 24, 2017—Ford Motor recalled 2017 Ford Edge, Ford Fusion and Lincoln MKZ vehicles that have a 2.0-liter engine and a six-speed automatic transmission.
In the affected vehicles, the torque-converter weld studs might have been welded inadequately; therefore, the torque converter might not be connected to the engine flexplate. As a result, the vehicle could lose the capability to move, which increases the risk of a crash.
Ford or Lincoln will notify owners, and dealers will replace the torque converters for free. The recall is expected to begin Aug. 14, 2017.
