July 24, 2017—FCA U.S. recalled 2017 Jeep Compass vehicles.
The affected vehicles have a user guide that has incorrect information for jump starting the vehicle; the polarity of the battery terminals is reversed in the battery-terminal graphic. As a result, if a user follows the incorrect information, he/she might connect the jumper cables incorrectly, which increases the risk of injury.
FCA U.S. will notify owners, and dealers will replace the user guide with an accurate version for free. The recall is expected to begin Aug. 21, 2017.
For more information, owners may call FCA U.S. at 800/853-1403. Owners also may call National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s Vehicle Safety Hotline at 888/327-4236 or go to safercar.gov.
