Kasel Associated Industries recalls beef pet treat due to salmonella risk
Sept. 24, 2012—Kasel Associated Industries recalled Boots & Barkley American Beef Bully sticks, because the product might be contaminated with salmonella. Consumers who handle pet treats can become infected with salmonella, especially if they don’t wash their hands thoroughly after they touch surfaces that are exposed to this product. Pets that have salmonella infections might develop a fever or abdominal pain or lose their appetite.
The recalled product was packaged in a plastic bag that contains six 5-inch beef sticks and has UPC 647263899189. The affected expiration dates are the following: April 20, 2014, June 20, 2014, June 23, 2014, and Sept. 23, 2014.
The recalled product was sold at Target stores nationwide from April 2012 through September 2012. No illnesses were reported. Consumers should return the recalled product to the store where it was purchased for a full refund.
