Kawasaki recalls Concours motorcycle due to possible brake failure
July 27, 2012—Kawasaki Motors recalled 2008–2011 Concours 14 motorcycles that have model numbers ZG1400 A–D. Because of a gap that exists between the brake pedal and the guard, debris can become trapped. Trapped debris would create a brake drag and might cause the rear brake to overheat. It also might lead to brake damage, lockup or failure. Brake lockup or failure would increase the risk of a crash.
Kawasaki will notify owners, and dealers will repair the brakes free. The safety recall is expected to begin July 30, 2012.
Owners may contact Kawasaki at 866/802-9381. Owners also may contact National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s Vehicle Safety Hotline at 888/327-4236 or go to safercar.gov.
