Kilwins recalls peanut butter fudge because of unease over salmonella
Oct. 9, 2012—Kilwins Quality Confections recalled all of its 7-ounce packages of sugar-free Peanut Butter Fudge because of possible salmonella contamination.
The product was made with peanut butter that’s associated with a September 2012 recall of Sunland peanut butter and might be contaminated with salmonella. The product has bar code 000648. The following lots are involved in this recall: 61621, 61658, 62612, 62693, 63124, 65123, 66248, 66413, 66959, 67105 and 67936. Those lots were sold in Kilwins retail stores between Oct. 1, 2011, and Oct. 5, 2012, in the following states: Colorado, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Maryland, Michigan, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia and Wisconsin. No illnesses were reported.
The product comes in a beige box that has a small window and in a black-and-white box that has a small window and a yellow sicker marked “Sugar Free.” The lot code can be found on the box label next to the bar code.
