Nissan cites air-bag malfunction in recall of 2012 Altima, Versa

Feb. 20, 2012—Nissan recalled certain 2012 Altima and Versa vehicles. The recalled models might be equipped with side-curtain air bags that contain an incorrect propellant mix for the initiator component that’s used. As a result, a side-curtain air bag might not deploy, which would increase the risk of an injury.

Nissan will notify owners, and dealers will replace one or both side-curtain air-bag modules free. The recall is expected to begin Feb. 27, 2012.
