Nissan recalls Frontier, Pathfinder, Xterra due to suspension problems

Oct. 1, 2012—Nissan recalled 2012 Frontier, Pathfinder and Xterra two-wheel-drive vehicles that were manufactured from June 19, 2012, through July 12, 2012. These vehicles might be equipped with front wheel hubs that don’t meet the design hardness specification. A wheel hub that was manufactured below hardness specification might wear prematurely and crack. If the vehicle is driven in this condition, the wheel hub might break, which would increase the risk of a crash.

Nissan will notify owners, and dealers will replace the wheel-hub assemblies free. The safety recall is expected to begin Oct. 8, 2012.

Owners may call Nissan at 800/647-7261. Owners also may call National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s Vehicle Safety Hotline at 888/327-4236 or go to safercar.gov.
