Peanut butter salmonella concerns prompt recall at Belfonte Ice Cream
Oct. 11, 2012—Belfonte Ice Cream & Dairy Foods recalled two ice-cream flavors that contain peanut butter because the ingredient might be contaminated with salmonella.
The recall includes Belfonte’s 56-ounce carton of Home Run Sundae that has UPC 8305791023 and a “best by” date range of 04/08/2011 to 07/27/2014, and Mama’s Choice Reverse Peanut Butter Pie that has UPC 8305717033 and a date range of 07/15/2011 to 06/02/2012.
The ice cream was sold between April 2010 and October 2012 in retail and convenience stores in Arkansas, Kansas, Missouri and Oklahoma. No illnesses have been reported.
This recall is in relation to a peanut butter recall at Sunland, which supplied products for Belfonte. Belfonte started to use a different supplier Oct. 9, 2012.
Consumers who have a recalled product can discard it or return it to the store of purchase to receive a refund. Consumers may call Belfonte Ice Cream & Dairy Foods at 816/231-2000 Monday–Friday, 7:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. CT.
