Peterson recalls ricotta cheese due to Listeria risk

Sept. 18, 2012—Peterson recalled Frescolina ricotta salata soft cheese, because the cheese might be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes. Listeria is an organism that can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in individuals who have weakened immune systems.

The recalled cheese was sold in a 7-ounce package that has a manufacturer code of 7022, 7212, 7272 or 7432 printed on its label.

The recalled product was sold to distributors, retailers and restaurants in Oregon and Washington. Consumers should return the recalled product to the store where it was purchased for a full refund.
