Protica recalls protein supplements because of botulism risk
Aug. 24, 2012—Protica recalled certain protein supplements, because they might be contaminated with Clostridium botulinum, which can cause botulism, a serious and potentially fatal foodborne illness.
The products that are involved in this recall are as follows: Body Choice Protein Shots (2.5 ounces); Nutritional Resources Protein Wave (2.5 ounces); ProBalance Protein to Go French vanilla latte (6 ounces); and Protein to Go Milk Chocolate Shake (3 ounces). A list of affected lot numbers and manufacture dates can be found here.
The recalled products were sold at retail stores nationwide. No illnesses were reported. Consumers should return the recalled products to the place of purchase or to Protica for a full refund.
