Oct. 25, 2012—Rivers Edge recalled its tree stands for hunters, because the snap-hook assemblies can fail, which would cause the tree stand and the user to fall.

The tree stands are used for bow and rifle hunting. The snap-hook assembly is used to attach the stand to a tree or a pole. The recalled models are Baby Big Foot (RE504), Big Foot (RE500), Big Foot with footrest (RE507), Big Foot XL (RE501), Big Foot XL with fast sticks (RE510), Big Foot XL with footrest (RE510), Big Foot XL with lounger (RE511) and Lite Foot (RE503). The products are made of metal with a gray finish and have black nylon straps with white stitches. The seat is camouflage and black and has a yellow Rivers Edge logo printed on the top.

The recalled products were sold at Blain’s Farm & Fleet, Gander Mountain, Mills Fleet Farm, Orscheln Farm & Home, Rodgers Sporting Goods, Scheels All Sports and other sporting-goods stores from May 1, 2012, through Sept. 1, 2012. Rivers Edge received three reports of snap-hook failure; one included minor injuries of bumps, bruises and soreness, and one included a broken toe and a lacerated hand. Consumers should stop using the recalled tree stands and contact Rivers Edge to receive a free replacement snap-hook assembly.
