Spence recalls smoked salmon due to Listeria risk

Aug. 23, 2012—Spence recalled its smoked salmon, because the product might be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes. Listeria can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in individuals who have weakened immune systems.

This recall involves the following products: Spence brand smoked salmon (8 ounces) that has lot code 6704701, and Wellsley Farms brand smoked salmon (16 ounces) that has lot code 6704701.

The recalled products were sold at BJ’s Wholesale Club, King Soopers and Kroger stores in the following states: Colorado, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Kentucky, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Utah and Wyoming. No illnesses were reported. Consumers should return the recalled product to the store of purchase for a full refund.
