Steelcase recalls Amia desk chair because pivot pins are loose
Jan. 19, 2012—Steelcase recalled its model 482 series Amia desk chair because the pivot pins that are installed in the control mechanism that’s under the seat can fall out. The user might fall. The product was manufactured between March 1, 2011, and June 6, 2011, and was sold nationwide and online from March 2011 through June 2011. No injuries were reported.
Consumers should stop using the chair immediately and should contact Steelcase to receive adhesive covers to apply over the pivot pins on their chair. These covers can be applied without the use of a tool in less than 5 minutes. Steelcase will contact all known purchasers. For more information, call Steelcase at 800/391-7194 Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. ET or email retrofits@steelcase.com.
