The Container Store recalls power strips due to fire hazard
Feb. 1, 2012—Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation with The Container Store, recalled Lushlife power strips. The power strips have undersize wiring, and the wiring and plastic strip don’t meet requirements for fire resistance, which poses a fire hazard.
This recall involves three designs of six-outlet power strips that have model number 80016 embossed on the back. Power-strip designs include Pop Power Strip in Scroll (black with white scroll), Dot (blue with green, orange and white dots and a green cord), and Zebra (black-and-white zebra stripes). The power strips have 3-foot power cords. “Lushlife power strips by Design” is printed on the package.
The products were sold at The Container Store nationwide and at containerstore.com from October 2011 through December 2011 for about $15. No injuries were reported.
Consumers should stop using the recalled power strips immediately and return them to any The Container Store location for a full refund and a $15 merchandise card.
