Worries of contaminated peanut spur General Mills to recall snack bars
Oct. 11, 2012—General Mills recalled certain Cascadian Farm Granola Bars that contain peanuts, because the peanut pieces might be from a peanut supplier that expanded its recall recently.
The recall includes six-count boxes of Cascadian Farm Peanut Butter Chip Chewy Granola Bars that have expiration dates of 01NOV2012 and 02NOV2012 printed on the top of the box. However, because this product was produced in February 2012, it no longer might be on store shelves.
Consumers should discard any Cascadian Farm granola bar products that contain peanuts that are past the “better if used by date” that’s printed on the box. These products include: Cascadian Farm Peanut Butter Chip Chewy Granola Bars, Cascadian Farm Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Chewy Granola Bars, Cascadian Farm Sweet & Salty Mixed Nut Granola Bars, Cascadian Farm Sweet & Salty Peanut Pretzel Bars and Cascadian Farm Trail Mix Dark Chocolate Cranberry Chewy Granola Bars.
No illnesses have been reported and no other varieties or production dates of Cascadian Farm products are affected by this recall.
Consumers may call Cascadian Farm Consumer Services at 800/624-4123.
