Aug. 2, 2017—Amrita Health Foods recalled certain flavors of protein bars, because they might be contaminated with the bacterium Listeria monocytogenes, which can cause serious and sometimes-fatal infections in people who have a weakened immune system.

The products contain sunflower-seed butter or sunflower seeds, and the company that supplies those ingredients to Amrita Health Foods has recalled them. The products were sold in retail stores nationwide and online. The affected products have “best by” dates that are from April 24, 2018 through May 31, 2018. For a complete list of the affected dates, flavors and UPCs, click on Amrita protein bar recall.

No illnesses were reported as of press time.

Consumers shouldn’t eat the recalled products and may return them to the place of purchase for an exchange.

For more information, consumers may call Amrita Health Foods at 888/728-7779 Monday–Friday, 9 a.m.–4 p.m. ET.
